Counselors at Morris Knolls
Each of the counselors possess a Masters Degree in Counseling. Their responsibilities include: student advocacy, academic advisement as well as college and career counseling.

Mr. Stan Abromavage, Supervisor of Guidance.  Mr. Abromavage earned his B.A. degree in Psychology from Dickinson College and his M.A. degree in counseling from Montclair State University.  A former psychology teacher at Knolls, he returns after seventeen years to lead the MK Guidance Department.  He most recently served as Director of Guidance at Sparta High School for the last eight years.

Mrs. Michele DePascale,  Mrs. DePascale earned her B.A. degree in Communications from Seton Hall University and her M.Ed. in Counseling from William Paterson University.  She joined the Morris Knolls Guidance department in 2008. She is the guidance website administrator, Naviance administrator, NJ Pass 9 co-coordinator and financial aid liason.

Mr. Ryan Shaffer, Mr. Shaffer earned his B.A. in Government and History from Lafayette College, and his M.A. in Counseling from William Paterson University. He joined the Morris Knolls Guidance department in 2011, after spending eight years teaching Social Studies and coaching soccer in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District.

Mrs. Elissa Merle,  Mrs. Merle earned her B.S. in Social Studies from Montclair State Univesity and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Centenary College.  She began her career at Morris Knolls High School in 1992 as a Social Studies Teacher.  Ms. Merle also was a successful Basketball and Field Hockey Coach for the girls varsity teams for many years.  In 2003 Ms. Merle moved into Guidance. She is the ASVAB Coordinator, HSPA 10 co-coordinator, Boys State liaison, Junior Leadership Programs liaison, Senior Newsletter Editor and serves as Freshman Class Advisor.  Mrs. Merle is also one of our International Baccalaureate counselors.

Mrs. Michele Pasquale, Mrs. Pasquale earned her B.A. in Business Administration, M.A. in Personnel Services, and certification for Student Assistance Counseling (SAC) from Montclair State University.  During the first 10 years of her career, she worked as an elementary teacher in the Newark School District.  Mrs. Pasquale served as counselor at Lakeview School in Denville for 4 years before coming to Morris Knolls High School in 2004.  She is the mini-college fair coordinator, County College of Morris Liaison and Instant Decision Day coordinator, financial aid liaison, HOBY Ambassador and Girls State liaison.

Mr. Ryan Esdale, Mr. Esdale earned his B.S. in Education/Social Studies from Duquesne University and his M.S. in School Counseling from Duquesne as well.  Mr. Esdale is beginning his career as a Guidance Counselor this September at Morris Knolls.   In addition, he is one of the Assistant Varsity Football coaches and the Junior Varstiy Basketball coach.  Mr. Esdale is the Scholarship co-coordinator, Shadow Program coordinator, NCAA liaison, and Military Academy liaison.

Mrs. Shari Russo,  Mrs. Russo earned her B.A. in Elementary Education and Special Education at Kutztown University and her M.A. in Counseling, Student Personnel Services and certification as Student Assistance Coordinator from Montclair State University.  She joined the Morris Knolls Guidance Department in February 2010. She brings thirteen years experience of teaching and counseling.  She serves as th AP co-coordinator, HSPA 10 co-coordinator and is also the advisor of the Alliance Club and member of the Goals 2020 Committee.

Mrs. Rebecca Rock, Mrs. Rock earned her B.A. in Psychology and Communication from Muhlenberg College and her M.A. in Counselor Education from The College of New Jersey.  She joined the Morris Knolls Guidance Department in 2008 and serves as Scholarship Coordinator, HSPA 9 co-coordinator and is also one of our International Baccalaureate counselors.
